The band Whitesnake's big moment would happen in 1987 with the release of the massive self-titled album that was just packed with hits. The biggest of those hits, "Here I Go Again," was already familiar with hardcore fans: it appeared on the group's 1982 LP, Saints & Sinners, and released as a single on November 15 of that year.

When singer David Coverdale and the band reworked the tune in 1987, the new version was super-charged in more ways than one. First re-recorded and then remixed for the radio, the new "Here I Go Again" was a smash, soaring to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of October 9, 1987.

Also helping push the song to the top: the steamy music video featuring actress Tawny Kitaen, writhing seductively atop a pair of Jaguar sports cars. Instant hitting heavy rotation on MTV, it became a defining '80s moment.
