In his influential career, Prince could rock a heeled boot like no one's business. Now, the late artist's collection of unique footwear is part of a forthcoming exhibition at Paisley Park, his home/recording studio-turned-museum.

"The Beautiful Collection: Prince's Custom Shoes" will showcase more than 300 pairs of boots, heels and even roller skates, featuring exclusive video interviews and performance footage. Available as part of any tour package at the Chanhassen, Minnesota complex, the exhibit promises "the story behind each step" with special display areas for Prince's Versace-designed footwear and also explainers on Prince's impact on fashion and gender expression.

“He was always pushing the boundaries of social acceptance, and he really ignited a whole new conversation in terms of how we look at gender roles and fashion,” curator Mitch Maguire told Vogue. “Prince used his shoes as an extension of his own artistry. He took something [like heels], which was typically associated with being feminine, and turned it into something really fiercely masculine.”

Included among the pairs will be the blue, hand-painted "cloud" shoes he wore in the "Raspberry Beret" video; glittery gem-encrusted heels worn to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction; the lifted suede sneakers he wore to his 2008 Coachella performance and many more. The exhibition opens July 9.
