Call the Doctor: Matt Fink Talks Prince on Rhino Podcast

The newest episode of the Rhino Podcast is just what the doctor ordered: a chat with Prince's longtime keyboardist, Matt Fink.

Known for his onstage attire of medical scrubs (which earned him the nickname "Doctor Fink"), the Minneapolis-born musician was picked by Prince to be a part of his touring band in 1978, months after the release of debut album For You. Fink continued to perform and tour with Prince after the group coalesced into The Revolution, which backed Prince on his blockbuster Purple Rain. After The Revolution was disbanded in 1986, Fink became the only member to stick with Prince, performing in his Sign O' the Times-era band and continuing through 1990.

On the episode, Fink shares stories of coming up alongside a musical icon and shares some stories about the masterful Sign O' the Times, recently released as a super deluxe edition box set. This episode follows last month's SOTT deep dive from Prince historian Duane Tudahl, writer of the set's track-by-track notes.
