A costume from one of Madonna's most memorable music videos is hitting the auction block.
The Queen of Pop's dress worn in the video to "Material Girl" is part of Julien's upcoming Music Icons auction, happening May 20-22, 2022 at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York and online. The pink satin dress with bustier top and bow, matching gloves and rhinestone bracelets was meant to channel Marilyn Monroe's wardrobe in the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; it was in fact made for a 1980 television movie about Monroe and rented to the production team of the music video.

"It's one of the most historic and iconic pieces of Madonna," auction founder and CEO Darren Julien said. "Very few items that are this iconic of hers are in the public domain." Sources expect the dress to sell for between $100,000 and $200,000.
Other artifacts available as part of the auction include the custom model-worn t-shirt from the original cover of Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet; guitars owned by Eddie Van Halen, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and Johnny Cash; a drum kit used by The Quarrymen, John Lennon and Paul McCartney's pre-Beatles band; and handwritten lyrics by Bruce Springsteen.
